After applying heat to your natural hair it is important to treat your hair delicately as when afro hair is straight, we tend to moisturise less to prevent our reverting. This means that our hair is drier and more susceptible to breakage (at that point in time). Over manipulation from brushing, combing and styling hair excessively can cause fast breakage.
Ponytails and buns are great ways to wear your hair after applying heat as they prevent the ends of your hair from rubbing directly onto clothing therefore minimising the chance of breakage. Here’s a 30 second tutorial demonstrating how to create a sleek pony with MINIMAL manipulation.
What you will need :
1 comb for parting only
small amount of eco styler gel or edge control.
For best results
This style should be done no more than two days after heat styling. (if so, you will need to use a brush)
Remember, natural hair comes in different textures, lengths and types so you may need to use products that work specifically for your hair type to achieve the finished look.
